Giving Priority to God in our Personal Life
It is very important to give the first priority to God in our life on a daily basis. We need to give first priority to God over all our life needs and situations such as the need for clothes, food, glory, progress on this earth, and so on (Mt. 6:33). Dt. 8:10-11 and 17-19 encourage that we need to give first priority to God over all our material blessings and sources. As disciples of Christ, Jesus expects a radical priority to be given to God in our life, even in risky situations and even over our family ties (Lk 9:57-62).
How can we give priority to God in our life?
Giving time to God
God created time (Gen 1:14; Ps 139:16). Time is our life. God intervenes in our time to make our life beautiful (Eccl 3:11). God wants you to spend eternity with Him. It is very important to give time to God in order to prioritize God in our life because our relationship with God will be built up only when we spend time with God. God will lift you up in your life in due time when you give time to God (1 Pt 5:6), and it is very important to give our time to God on a daily basis because Jesus will come back in an unexpected hour (Mt 24).Determination
Determination indicates your strong decision and firmness to do something, even though it is difficult, and not letting anyone stop you. We need determination to pray in difficult situations (Dan 6:10-11), to worship God in the most challenging situations (2 Chr 20:21), to stand firm for God even in dangerous circumstances (Dan 1:8-9; 3:16-18), and to live for God even in the most risky situations (Phil 1:21; 2 Cor 12:10).Most common challenges or hindrances to giving priority in our life are our excuses (Lk 14:16), a compromising spirit, pro-self priorities, and priorities that are centered on the values and philosophies of this world (1 Jn 2:15; Jas 4:3-4).
