9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest,
11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
and want like an armed man. (ESV) Proverbs 6:9-11

Proverbs 6: 6-11 talks about how our laziness can lead us
into poverty. Two indications of laziness are mentioned in the vv. 9-10.
Firstly, a lazy person simply likes to lie down or oversleep by ignoring the priorities
of life. Secondly, a lazy person simply likes to fold hands and sit without
redeeming time to do creatively and responsibly to move forward in life. This
is not about taking rest. We all need to take rest. In fact, rest is God
ordained principle of life. These verses primarily point out foolish and
irresponsible use of time and energy that God gifts to a person. Laziness can bring poverty into our lives. The
passage brings an example to point out diligence. Ants gather food for them
without any officer or ruler. They are smart enough to work hard and save food for
their future. A lazy person runs away from priorities of life and spend his
time in things which does not bring any contribution for destiny or future.
Laziness brings poverty to our finance as well as spiritual life. Deal with
your laziness.
