in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Ephesians 2:21-22
Scripture compares church with a building. Jesus is the cornerstone; apostles and prophets are the foundation. Every believer is a living stone in this building. The whole purpose of this structure is to grow into a holy temple in the Lord where God’s presence indwells. I want to point out two facts:
1. Growing together: No stone can be part of a beautiful structure without connecting to the others stones. Same way, we grow and become purposeful through connecting with other believers. Unity and fellowship with other believers take a key role in our spiritual growth.
2. Build up together: Those who are being joined together will be built up. A stone cannot become a building by itself until unless it joins with other stones. We are built up through connections with other believers. As we are being built together as a temple, God will release greater measure of His presence into us and we will have increased awareness about God’s presence as a cooperate body.
We are joined together with other believers and leadership to grow and build up spiritually to become people who host God’s presence in a greater measure.
