And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem
and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, Do not be afraid and do not be
dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's. (ESV) 2
Chronicles 20:15
You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold
your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and
Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against
them, and the Lord will be with you.” (ESV) 2 Chronicles 20:17
Every battle that we face belongs to God. It is not our
battle, it is God’s. Therefore, the Lord is fighting every battle for us. Devil
and all his battle strategy was lost at the cross of Jesus. Sin, death, diseases,
pain, feeling down, rejection, poverty and etc. lost their battles at the
cross. Jesus already brought a victory for us over every battle. Therefore, we
are not waiting to bring a victory rather we are living from a victory. Time to
time, we need to release the victory of Jesus to our situations. However, fear and
dismay can block us from this. God said to the Israelites here “Do not be
afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde.” Things or situations before
us may be like a mountain or a red sea. But we should not be afraid or dismayed
because the battle belongs to God. There is nothing bigger than our Jesus. There
is nothing above the Lordship of Jesus. God says to Israel: stand still, stand
firm and go forward. Quieting all our internal negative voices and practicing
stillness in prayer, worship, reading the word of God in the presence of God will
help us to move forward. No matter what we face, we need to stand firm because the
Lord is fighting our battles. No matter what kind of giants we are facing,
nothing can stop us because the Lord is with us. Trust the Lord with all your heart
in every battle and do not lose your heart.
