Obedience is an expression of love

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. (ESV) John 14:23

Obedience of God’s word is an expression of our love to God. Obedience will not become a burden to us when we love God. When our hearts are passionate for God and filled with first love, we really want to please Jesus by just following His word. When there is love for Jesus, we will rejoice in obeying God even if our obedience cost a great price to us. When apostles were arrested, imprisoned, beaten and charged not to speak in Jesus name by the Jewish Sanhedrin, they rejoiced because they could suffer for Christ (Acts 5:41). Bible defines love as laying down own life for another (John 14:13). Love for Jesus will lead us to lay down our life to just obey Jesus Christ. When we love him, our comfort and security will be laid down for the sake of Christ. Obedience is an expression our love to Jesus by consistently laying down our lives for Jesus.
