Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. (ESV) John 14:12
Jesus commissioned us to do what Jesus did and greater works than what Jesus did! Three major things that Jesus did while he was on the earth other than the work on the cross: healing, deliverance and proclaiming the gospel. The question immediately may come to our heart is “Am I qualified to do this?” YES. God is not looking for perfect but righteous people. Yes, we all are righteous through the blood of Jesus. The problem today is that believers are waiting to be perfect. Another issue is that they either overemphasise character while underestimating the power of God or overemphasising power while underestimating character. We need both.
We are righteous by the blood of Jesus and we carry God’s power through the Holy Spirit who is indwelling in every believer. We can do what Jesus did, not because of our natural qualification but God who is indwelling in us is qualified to do what Jesus did through each one of us.
I was recently in a share cab with another three people including the driver. A passenger asked VICKS bam to us telling that he had severe headache. I immediately realized it is an opportunity to pray. After a few minutes, I asked to him “Can I pray for you? I see sometimes healing when I pray.” This non-believer agreed to pray. I prayed and immediately a gospel door opened and I could share about Jesus. Recently I was praying for an unbeliever along with two of our believers, the power of God visibly and experientially fell on this person. Last many months if I hear that if anyone is sick, I just lay my hands and pray. Several people received healing.
Step out and just pray for the sick and people who need deliverance. Step out and open your mouth to talk about Jesus. We can do what Jesus did. It is my dream that healings and deliverance should happened with nonbelievers outside the church. Step out and pray for someone. Do not worry about the result. Result belongs to Jesus. We cannot do anything but only thing we need to do step out in faith and pray for someone.
