Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ (ESV) Matthew 25:45
The people who were on right hand side (sheep) received eternal inheritance because they were compassionate and loving to people who were needy. In contrast, people who are at the left (goats) received eternal punishment because they did not treat the needy with compassion which was a sin of omission. Failure to treat others with care, compassion and love considered as failing to treat Jesus well. God is really looking to us at how we treat others, especially the least ones around us. People can be harsh, arrogant, rude, hypocritical, senseless, jealous to others. People may avoid, ignore and neglect others if they do not like a person or somebody. People may close their eyes to certain people because they are not good in their perspective. People may rejoice on the fall of someone in their heart or even wish something bad to happen to people whom they do not like. People tend to focus on weakness of others or failures of others or bad experiences they have from the person. However, God treats people differently. Father God lavished His love over us when we were enemies of God. Holy God touched me and you when we were unholy. He did not treat you based on your mistakes rather God treated me according to His goodness and love. The same way, we need to treat others with love, compassion and care even if people are hurting us. Love is the greatest weapon. We need to see people through the eyes of God. Jesus died for everyone. Therefore we need to see everyone through Jesus and treat everyone the way Jesus may treat them.
